A Super Cool Local Business

Second Use, a great local company in South Seattle, has had building materials for reuse in the Puget Sound region since 1994. Their mission is to reclaim old buildings, divert reusable building materials from the landfill, preserve components of our local architectural heritage, provide affordable building materials to the public, and offer living wage jobs to their staff.

It’s great fun to go there any day of the week, and wander through, to see a million old doors, windows, cabinets, old school maps, and all kinds of wonders – they get new stuff in pretty much every day.

Do you have a lot somewhere that needs an inexpensive, built-to-last house?  Second Use now offers homes to be relocated to your lot!  In accordance with the Second Use Mission, they are now listing homes ready to be moved to a new property.  This may be the most affordable and quickest option for those thinking of building on an existing property.  Many of these homes are slated to be demolished, if a new owner is not found.  See their beginning inventory at seconduse.com/catalog, and look for ‘houses’.  It really is a treasure of a business, and one of my favorite places to visit – go check them out, you’ll really enjoy it!

"In 2000, Johnine and Gaile helped us find our first home. Since then, they (and Scott) have helped us buy and sell two more homes. They are experts at matching your style to what's available on the market and will never push you to buy something that doesn't fit no matter how long it takes." - Andrea & Wyman YipRead More...
