FARMERS MARKET: closest are Ballard Farmers Market, located on Ballard Avenue NW, between Vernon Place NW and 22nd Avenue NW. Open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., year round, and Phinney Farmers Market, located in the upper parking lot at 67th and Phinney Ave N., Seattle, 98103, open Fridays, 3-7 pm, June 3 through October 7, 2011.

Broadview is a quite residential neighborhood tucked snugly into Seattle’s northwest corner. Apart from a handful of restaurants and retail spots along Greenwood, Broadview has very few commercial offerings. While construction of condominiums and apartments is increasing (and concentrated along Greenwood), most homes are single-family.  Many residents appreciate the quiet Broadview offers and the large lots, while still being close to downtown. Perhaps because residents tend to stick around, a strong sense of community is a cornerstone of Broadview’s personality.

Many buyers are drawn to the open floor plans of Broadview’s midcentury homes.  On the western edge of Broadview is a bluff, below which runs the BNSF Railway mainline along Puget Sound.  The Carkeek Park occupies the southwest corner of the neighborhood along the shoreline.  The park offers more than 6 miles of trails. A pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks offers views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains before descending onto a secluded, sandy beach.  Here  and along the waterfront, are the more-expensive homes, many with large lots and Puget Sound views.  To the east, between Third and Greenwood, buyers can find smaller, more affordable options.

Broadview is also home to the historic E.B.Dunn Gardens designed by the legendary Olmsted brothers. The original landscaping plan of the gardens has been preserved for more than 90 years. Dunn Gardens is open to the public for guided tours only, Thursdays-Saturdays, by advance reservation.

On the northwest side of Broadview bordering the Highlands, Llandover Trail is home to many Native Animal and Plant Species such as owls, eagles, mountain beavers, and old-growth trees. The species have been preserved due to limited residential development in the area.
