San Point Magnuson Park
7400 Sandpoint Way NE
This nine-acre sprawling park is located on Lake Washington, just south of San Point Naval Base. In my opinion, this is one of the premier dog parks in the city. It’s also the biggest, and the only dog park with lake access. Sparky likes this since he’s a swimmer. For humans, it’s a good time as well. Here, the landscape shifts, from open fields to compact gravel paths. I like to walk the mile-long out-and-back trail and throw the ball in one of the open spaces along the way. Like all good things, Magnuson Park can get crowded—but there’s plenty of room for everyone. Shady spots are available, but this is mostly a sun-filled park. One good design feature: the beach is at the end of the trail which gives Sparky a chance to dry off before getting back in the car.
